Humboldt Bay Brass Performs Centennial ‘Sound-off’ Sept. 27

The Humboldt Bay Brass Band, the brass ensemble led by Humboldt State Music Professor Gil Cline that employs British instrumentation, will perform in the guise of the “Humboldt Bay Bugle Mob” in the university’s Centennial Parade on Friday, Sept. 27, departing from the campus at 4:15 p.m. via Harpst Street to the Arcata Plaza. Fans last enjoyed the Bugle Mob in last spring’s Rhody Parade in Eureka.

Exhibit Features Works By HSU Art Department Founding Faculty

In celebration of Humboldt State University’s centennial year, a exhibition featuring the art of emeriti faculty who began teaching in Humboldt State’s Art Department between 1914 and 1966 will be on exhibit at HSU’s Reese Bullen Gallery. The exhibit will run from September 12 through October 5, 2013 with an opening reception on Thursday, September 12 from 4-6 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event.

First Street Gallery Hosts Centennial Art Exhibit through Sept. 15

In celebration of Humboldt State University’s centennial year, HSU's First Street Gallery in Old Town, Eureka presents a faculty and staff exhibition showcasing artists who currently teach and work in Humboldt State’s Art Department. The exhibit will display a wide range of themes, styles and media August 20 through September 15.

HSU Hosts World Marimba Festival June 30-July 13

The international Zeltsman Marimba Festival comes to the Pacific Northwest for the first time June 30 - July 13, featuring eight evening concerts open to the public at Humboldt State University’s Native Forum and the Arcata Playhouse.
