Humboldt State University Music faculty members welcome back students, faculty, staff, and the greater Humboldt community for what has become a fine musical tradition, the Fall Semester Welcome Concert, on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. in Fulkerson Recital Hall.

The Theatre, Film & Dance Department at Humboldt State University presents Fantastic Mr. Fox by David Wood, adapted from the book by Roald Dahl, beginning Friday, May 3.

The 52nd Humboldt Int’l Film Fest returns to the Minor Theatre in Arcata from April 19 to 23.

Fun fact: Humboldt State has an alma mater, and it was written in 1943 by an alumna named Joyce Bruner (‘45, Music Education). HSU’s “official” song, the alma mater is a piece of University music tradition that generations of students have heard, though probably without realizing what they were listening to in the first place.

The Theatre, Film, & Dance Department at Humboldt State University presents Surrenderings, a dance concert created by students and faculty, in the Gist Hall Theatre on campus for two weekends in April.

A two part exhibition, Ikyav, Píkyav: Making, Re-Making, will run from April 4 through May 18 at the Goudi’ni Gallery. An opening reception will take place April 4 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

El Leñador, the student-run bilingual newspaper at Humboldt State University, won first place in six categories in the 2019 California College Media Association statewide awards competition. The awards were presented on March 2 in La Jolla. The newspaper also placed in an additional six categories.

The HSU Department of Music presents the Arcata Bay String Quartet for a Sunday afternoon Faculty Artist Series concert featuring three masterpieces for the string quartet on March 31, at 2 p.m. in Fulkerson Recital Hall.

The upcoming Margaret T. Kelso Short Play Festival, which will feature six original plays, provides students the opportunity to show their work in front of an audience.

"The Extraordinary Voyage of Kamome: A Tsunami Boat Comes Home" is a true story about students in two countries who formed a connection through a natural disaster and a boat. With the help of HSU students, the bilingual English-Japanese children’s book is now available in Spanish.
