Children’s Book About Tsunami Boat Translated into Spanish

"The Extraordinary Voyage of Kamome: A Tsunami Boat Comes Home" is a true story about students in two countries who formed a connection through a natural disaster and a boat. With the help of HSU students, the bilingual English-Japanese children’s book is now available in Spanish.

Humboldt State University's Department of Music is presenting a special solo piano recital featuring the legendary American pianist Ursula Oppens on Friday, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m. in Fulkerson Recital Hall. Her performance is part of a three-day residency at HSU, where she’ll work with students and offer a free public piano master class on Sept. 27, noon - 2 p.m. in Fulkerson Recital Hall.

Humboldt State’s student-run bilingual newspaper, _El Leñador_, will be celebrating its five-year anniversary on Thursday, April 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kate Buchanan Room at Humboldt State University. The free event is open to the campus and community.

Debate Team has a Way with Words

Students recently made Humboldt State history: HSU’s debate team competed on the world stage for the first time ever. “It was nerve-wracking and exciting. I’ve competed regionally but never at this level, and didn’t know what to expect,” recalls Social Work graduate student Ruby Aguirre-Gutierrez.
