First Street Gallery has been honored to present the collection of artist Leslie Price's recent work from his Veil series. The exhibit will run through Nov. 6.

Giving Continues to Increase at Humboldt State

Humboldt State University continued its trend of obtaining increased private gift and grant revenues, receiving $6,319,398 during the 2010-11 fiscal year. This figure represents a 6.7 percent increase over the previous year’s total.

Student-Run Consulting Class Puts Business Students to Work

Last spring, senior business students formed Humboldt State Business Consulting; a class run like a business, as part of Professor Nancy Vizenor’s Small Business Consulting Class, or BA 417. This fall, the current group of students will work with their first clients.

New Campus Club Promotes Women in Math and Sciences

Wednesday evenings at 5:30, students gather together in East Nelson Hall classroom 115. They begin by introducing their name, major and a sexual organ or reference that begins with the first letter of their name. That’s one of the strategies the Society of Women in Math and Sciences (SWIMS) use to learn each other’s names and begin their weekly club meetings.

Online Learning Initiative Moving Forward “CSU Online,” an online learning initiative that will address California’s expanding workforce needs and increase access to high quality education, is making progress with the recruitment of an executive director. The new executive director will work closely with faculty, staff and administrators at all the campuses in executing the vision for the online learning initiative ensuring the project continues in a broad-based, collaborative manner.

Renovations Make Marine Lab More User-Friendly

Humboldt State’s Telonicher Marine Lab in Trinidad is wrapping up a year and a half long $350,000 renovation of its wet lab and public display area funded by alumni, grants and private donations.
