Humboldt State University has won a $10,000 award for its TRiO Talent Search college-entrance program, which aids Humboldt County pupils in grades six through 12. Talent Search is a long-term federal initiative that serves low-income youths across the country who are potential first-generation college students.

The Lobby Corps of HSU along with the California State Student Association is recruiting 10 Humboldt State students for the 17th annual California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) in Sacramento. The event runs April 20 through 23.

HSU Cycling Team raced proudly on its home turf this weekend. Hayley Umayam stole the show, winning Sunday’s campus criterium one day after winning the 30-mile road race in the Women’s B category.

Hundreds of historic photographs collected by the late Humboldt State University photographer Peter Palmquist (’65, Art) will be available online for students, researchers and historians later this year, thanks to a partnership between the HSU Library and Yale University’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library.
