The CSU is continuing its efforts to educate legislators on the consequences of the current approved $500 million cut to its 2011-12 budget and the ramifications of deeper cuts.
Humboldt State University’s Department of Social Work has received a $50,000 contract from the California Social Work Education Center to administer the American Indian Recruitment (AIR) Program for all of Northern California.

Ken Ayoob has been named Dean of Humboldt State University’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Ayoob served as interim Dean of the college since 2007. h3. Higher Ed Leaders Lay Out Consequences of Budget Cuts
The three leaders of the state’s public higher education system rallied against the proposed cuts to their universities Tuesday saying the reductions will have long-lasting effects on California’s economy.
The Humboldt State University campus is currently experiencing a brief interruption to electrical power. The cause is believed to be associated with a downed power line in Arcata.
In conjunction with Earth Week, Apr. 17-23, Humboldt State University will host “Encounters in the Open Sea: An evening with Rick Rosenthal,” at the John Van Duzer Theatre, Humboldt State University, Apr. 19, 7-8:30 p.m.
One of the most perennially popular shows of the year at HSU is happening a little earlier than usual, due to scheduling demands for Gist Hall Theatre: the 13th Annual HSU 10 Minute Play Festival opens for two weekends on April 7.

ROUTE 101 SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT UPDATE
Eureka – Currently, Route 101 approximately 60 miles south of Eureka is open to one-way controlled traffic and motorists should expect 30-minute delays. Caltrans is pleased to announce that by Tuesday morning, April 5, the highway will open to one lane in each direction 24 hours a day. Motorists should anticipate minor traffic slowdowns.
