Geology Department Chair Mark Hemphill-Haley departed on Sunday Nov. 20 for a ten-day reconnaissance of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck New Zealand’s South Island on Nov. 13. Professor Erica Flapan will discuss mirror image symmetry in life, mathematics, and chemistry in the 68th Harry S. Kieval Lecture on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m., in Founders Hall Room 118.
