Humboldt State University will host a presentation of findings on the recent Chile earthquake and tsunami on Monday, April 26, at 5 p.m. in Founders Hall Room 118.

HSU Journalism Professor Garners State Recognition

Humboldt State Journalism Professor Marcy Burstiner was honored as outstanding instructor by the California Journalism Education Coalition (CAL-JEC) at the annual convention of the California College Media Association at Hearst Castle in San Simeon April 17. CAL-JEC members include the California Newspaper Publishers Association, the California College Media Association and the Northern California Journalism Educators Association.

Love is Strange with the HSU Opera Workshop

It’s not your grandfather’s opera. No exaggerated emotions in foreign languages by heavily costumed figures standing around until the fat lady sings. On Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24, the HSU Opera Workshop explores contemporary relationships with selected musical scenes and two short comic operas, including the story of a young man searching for true love at a video dating service.

Natural History Museum: Renowned Author Leads Sharing Nature Workshop

The Redwood Science Project and the HSU Natural History Museum bring world renowned naturalist and author, Joseph Cornell to the North Coast for a lecture and two-day workshop. Joseph is the author of six books including "Sharing Nature with Children" and "Sharing the Joy of Nature." His activities, including Heart Beat of a Tree, Camera, and Wild Animal Scramble, are staples of summer camps, nature classes, and after-school children's programs.

In 1967 a group of students came together to bring worldly movies to Humboldt State, giving life to the Humboldt Film Festival. Now filmmakers from the across the globe vie for a top spot in the nation's oldest student-run film festival.

Humboldt State University will recognize leading alumni in the fields of business, athletics/physical education, social work and forestry science at its annual Distinguished Alumni dinner and awards presentation on Friday, April 23, in Eureka. Pre-registration is required.

Printmaking Students Present Steamroller Woodcut Printing

Inspired by the artistic potential of plywood, ink, and a steamroller, the HSU Printmakers will give Humboldt an exciting day of steamroller printing. On April 21st from 9am to 9pm at the HSU Main campus, a team of student artists will be creating several woodcut prints, led by HSU Professor Sarah Whorf. The public will have the opportunity to witness large-scale printmaking.

Police Seek Suspects in Weekend Vandalism

Humboldt State University Police are investigating a weekend act of vandalism in which natural gas valves were opened in the Science B building.  Gas spread to several floors.

HSU Cycling Hits Jackpot in Reno

It was a phenomenal weekend for the HSU Cycling Team in the World's Biggest Little City. Eleven riders from HSU made the arduous journey through late spring snowstorms to participate in races sponsored by the University of Nevada/Reno.
