Engineering Program Gets $700,000 for Green Jobs Training

Arcata, Calif.—The National Science Foundation has awarded Humboldt State University’s Environmental Resources Engineering Department a $700,000 grant to fund a professional Master’s degree in renewable energy and water resources.

Walter Stahel, Swiss author of The Performance Economy and a specialist in sustainability, will analyze low carbon economics in the 17th Annual Chung-Watson Lecture at Humboldt State University on Thursday, April 8, at 4 p.m. in the Kate Buchanan Room at University Center.

Students Relight HSU’s Redwood Bowl

The Relight Redwood Bowl project, funded by a $75,000 grant from Humboldt Energy Independence Fund and carried out by the Green Campus Program, is now completed and operational. The project reduces the number of light poles on the track and football field from eight to four, and reduces the number of light bulbs used from 96 to 60.
