TURLOCK – Humboldt State softball completed a clean sweep of nine games played this weekend by taking both games of a non-league doubleheader from Central Washington, 4-0 and 7-3, on Monday.
This Week’s Event: Lining up alongside most of the crews from throughout the region, the Lumberjacks travel to compete in the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference Invitational on Vancouver Lake, Vancouver, Wash. on Saturday. The seven members of the NCRC — HSU, Willamette University, University of Puget Sound, Lewis & Clark College, Pacific Lutheran University, Western Washington and Seattle Pacific — are all expected to attend, along with other invited programs. Last year’s attendees included UC San DIego, Gonzaga University, St. Mary’s and the University of California.
This Week’s Meet: Seeking the best possible competition that will lift them to improved marks, HSU’s track and field athletes head in opposite directions this week for a pair of prestigious meets. While the majority of Lumberjacks head north to compete at the Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore., a small contingent of athletes will stay in state for the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto. Both meets are two-day events, beginning Friday and ending on Saturday.
This Week’s Games: The Jacks resume California Collegiate Athletic Association play this weekend when they host Cal State San Bernardino for Friday and Saturday doubleheaders to begin their stretch of 12 games at home this month. Friday’s doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. and Saturday’s begins at 11 a.m.
