Alumni Team Up On Founders, Gist Energy Updates

Think of Founders Hall as you might consider a classic car. Since it was first constructed in 1920, the venerable structure has undergone a variety of remodels, including paint jobs and bodywork. Still, its restoration to cherry condition remains incomplete.

Award-Winning Educator Explores The Power of Storytelling

Humboldt State University’s 2013-14 Excellence in Teaching Award winner, Maral Attallah, presents “The Stories We (Don’t) Tell: Re-writing Collective Memory and Identity.” The talk is free and open to the public, and takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 2, in the Van Duzer Theatre on the HSU Campus.

Homecoming Activities Forecast Festive Weekend

Tradition. Memories. And most of all, fun. All three of those elements combine for the 2014 Humboldt State Homecoming & Family Weekend, which features myriad events over the weekend of Oct. 3-5.

Goudi’ni Gallery Exhibit Features Klamath/Modoc Artist Natalie Ball

The Goudi’ni Native American Art Gallery at Humboldt State University invites the community to view mixed-media art in its latest exhibit, “Natalie Ball: Solidifying the Past with the Present.” The exhibit opens with a reception for the artist on Thursday, Sept. 25 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and runs through Oct. 18.

Humboldt State Hosts Kimchi Culture Festival

Kimchi-making demonstrations, traditional Korean music, dance, and a barbeque are all part of the Kimchi Culture Festival, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Kate Buchanan Room on the Humboldt State University campus.

Marine Sciences Faculty Receive NSF Research Grant

Three Humboldt State faculty members have received a $272,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to study the effects of low pH and low dissolved oxygen on marine organisms along the North Coast.

Humboldt Bay Landscape Painters

Humboldt State University's First Street Gallery presents "Humboldt Bay Landscape Painters: Paintings by Andrew Daniel, Mimi LaPlant, Kathy O’Leary and Stock Schlueter" Sept. 30 to November 2. The exhibit is part of a series addressing Humboldt Bay, the second largest enclosed bay in California.
