Vets Call Transition Services a Lifesaver

Humboldt State military veterans say the thing they miss the most about their service experience—soldierly camaraderie—is supplied in spades by the University’s year-old Veterans Enrollment and Transition Services Office, staffed by fellow vet undergraduate and graduate students.

HSU to Test Emergency Alert System Sept. 24

Humboldt State University will conduct a 15-minute test of its Emergency Alert System on Thursday, September 24, from 10:45 to 11 a.m. Thursday’s exercise will be a drill only and no evacuations will be ordered.

North Coast Musicians Combine in Deborah Clasquin Memorial Scholarship Benefit

HSU Music Department colleagues, North Coast friends and former students combine to honor Deborah Clasquin, the much-beloved pianist and teacher who passed away last March, with a concert to benefit the newly established Deborah Clasquin Memorial Scholarship Fund, on Saturday, Sept. 26 in the Fulkerson Recital Hall on the HSU campus.

Museum May Open for School Field Trips

Campus Hosts Marrow Drive for Alum

Arcata – Humboldt State University will host a bone marrow registration in early October on behalf of a recent alum, Kyle Hendry (political science, ’07), who has just completed another round of chemotherapy for treatment of leukemia. He will need a transplant in about six weeks.

Top Scholar to Address Conservation

Award-winning Geography Professor Stephen Cunha, Humboldt State University’s 2009 Scholar of the Year, will deliver a free lecture open to the public, “High Priority: Conserving Mountain Environments from Alaska to Zambia,” on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 5 p.m. in John Van Duzer Theatre. A dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. in the University Center Banquet Room. Geographer Named Top Scholar

Arcata – Humboldt State University President Rollin Richmond has accepted a faculty panel’s recommendation of award-winning Geography Professor Stephen Cunha to be the 2009 Scholar of the Year.

Perryman Named Interim Dean of HSU Library

Robert Snyder, Humboldt State Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, has appointed Wayne Perryman the new Interim Dean of the University Library to succeed Ray Wang, who recently moved to Cal Poly Pomona.

CSU Employee Update August 24, 2009

The CSU and the State Employees Trades Council-United (SETC) have reached a tentative agreement that maintains the current salary scale with no increases, but provides the option of reopening salary and benefit terms in the 2010-11 fiscal year. The agreement, which is in effect until June 30, 2011, was reached following recommendations by a neutral fact-finder.
