R/V North Wind is Here!

Cal Poly Humboldt welcomed its newest research vessel, the R/V North Wind, into Humboldt Bay. The R/V North Wind traveled approximately 550 miles from Bellingham Bay, Washington, where it underwent various tests and sea trials for fine-tuning.

Lessons from December’s Earthquake and Tsunami Warning

On Dec. 5, 2024, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Humboldt County, shaking communities and triggering a tsunami warning along Northern and Central California’s coastline. Now local experts are coming together to reflect on the event, discuss regional earthquake and tsunami hazards, and explore ways to strengthen community resilience.

AIDS Memorial Quilt on Display for Week-long World AIDS Day Events

The Multicultural Queer Studies Pathway of the Department of Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies (CRGS) in collaboration with staff and students from Humboldt Campus Galleries, and the National AIDS Memorial are partnering together to bring two 12x12 panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt to Arcata as part of the Community Display Program.
