HSU Kicks Off 20th Annual Day of Caring Sept. 21

Hundreds of Humboldt State University students and community volunteers are expected to join in HSU’s 20th Annual Day of Caring on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a partnership of the university’s Service Learning and Academic Internships and United Way of the Wine Country.

Berkeley Prof Surveys New Math Standards in HSU Lecture

Award-winning Berkeley Mathematics Professor Alan Schoenfeld will deliver the 62nd Harry S. Kieval Lecture on new math teaching and learning methods on Thursday evening, Sept. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Founders Hall, Room 118. The lecture is sponsored by Humboldt State University’s Department of Mathematics.

HSU Builds on Commitment to Sustainability with STARS

After months of collaboration among various campus groups and departments, Humboldt State has been named a top school for sustainability by STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System), a nationwide program that measures the sustainability performance of colleges and universities across the nation.

Humboldt State University has released a Campus Diversity Plan, a comprehensive tool for increasing and monitoring diversity and inclusive student success on campus.

Exhibit Features Works By HSU Art Department Founding Faculty

In celebration of Humboldt State University’s centennial year, a exhibition featuring the art of emeriti faculty who began teaching in Humboldt State’s Art Department between 1914 and 1966 will be on exhibit at HSU’s Reese Bullen Gallery. The exhibit will run from September 12 through October 5, 2013 with an opening reception on Thursday, September 12 from 4-6 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event.

HSU’s Fulkerson Hall Closed Temporarily for Repairs

Humboldt State University’s Fulkerson Recital Hall has been closed temporarily for the immediate and permanent repair of a cracked wooden truss beam that apparently succumbed to age and seismic activity. The closure includes the audiovisual booth in the Department of Music Building.
