David Korten to Give Lecture at HSU

The Humboldt State University School of Business, in connection with International Education Week, is hosting the internationally known writer and lecturer David C. Korten on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Kate Buchanan Room, University Center.

Students Attend Diversity Forum

A record number of HSU students - 73 in all - made the trip to this year's California Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education hosted by Mills College.

Autonomous Technology Forum Nov. 15

Tim Johnson, founder and executive advisor of the California Autonomous Technology Initiative, will speak at a forum on the subject at the Wharfinger Building on the waterfront in Eureka on Wednesday, Nov. 15th, at 5:30 p.m. Johson's economic development organization won the 2006 United States Economic Development Administration award for excellence in rural development. He also is executive director of the Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation and will discuss how he has helped businesses to create thousands of new jobs related to autonomous technology, which includes robotics, information processing, and sensing technologies.

Service Learning in the Spotlight

At Humboldt State –perhaps it's something in the misty air -- students seem to simultaneously catch the bug for student leadership, civic-mindedness, and community outreach. Example: the Youth Educational Services House -- better known as the YES House -- tucked away in the northern corner of campus. Every semester nearly 200 college students find their way there hoping to volunteer with one of its many community-serving programs.

Sexual Assault Reported On Campus

The Humboldt State University Police Department is moving quickly to investigate an alleged sexual assault that reportedly took place Monday evening at the LK Wood Blvd. underpass, said University Police Chief Tom Dewey.

English Conference Unites Educators

Humboldt State University's Department of English and the Redwood Writing Project (RWP) are co-sponsoring an on-campus conference on English Studies. HSU CERT Program to Expand Training

On Sept. 12 and 13 the HSU Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT), in conjunction with personnel from Plant Operations and Housing, will be undergoing training to conduct damage assessments of campus buildings following a major earthquake.

Adventurers Host Slideshow on Campus

Michael Fay of National Geographic and the Wildlife Conservation Society will host a free slideshow and lecture -- The Last Place on Earth -- Friday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Humboldt State University's John Van Duzer Theater.

Business Dept Hosts Golf Tournament

The first annual HSU School of Business Golf Tournament will take place at the Baywood Golf and Country Club, in Arcata, Friday, September 22, 2006 with a "shotgun" tournament start at 1 p.m., followed by a silent auction and dinner at 6 p.m.
