Arcata – Humboldt State University Associated Students is soliciting applications to attend the 2008 California Higher Education Student Summit in mid-April in Sacramento, an annual event to augment leadership skills in civic engagement and social change.

Arcata – Gil Friend, the global communications pioneer, will deliver the 15th Annual Chung-Watson Lecture in Business Ethics at Humboldt State University on Wednesday, February 27th at 3:00 p.m. in the Kate Buchanan Room, University Center. It is free and open to the public.

Central Valley squads up next for Lumberjacks

ARCATA — The long bus ride to Turlock and the relatively short ride home from Chico are this week’s travel plans for the Lumberjacks, who make their final journey of the regular season this week. Of course, the ride home will be even shorter if the Jacks can bring home a pair of victories. They’ll begin that quest against the CSU Stanislaus Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Friday, then take on the Chico State Wildcats at the same time Saturday.

HSU Praised for Youth Service

Arcata – Humboldt State University has again won national recognition for exemplary service to disadvantaged youth, this time for its Youth to College Initiative (Y2C), which sets up campus-community partnerships for tutoring and mentoring.

Power restored to campus

Full electrical power has been restored to the Humboldt State University campus following a brief outage Thursday morning, Feb. 21. All classes, offices and operations are functioning normally.

HSU Alert Drill a Success

The Valentine’s Day test of Humboldt State University’s Emergency Alert System succeeded in transmitting 3,017 text messages to registered cell phone users, a dramatic increase from the 752 sent in the previous drill. Only 78 messages were returned as undeliverable.
