University Continues with Transition of UC Services

The transition of services managed by University Center is underway. Humboldt State University is working diligently to transition all University Center services effective January 9, with immediate priorities being continuity of services and retaining as many UC employees as possible.

Alumna Named Cal State East Bay President

Rising through the ranks of higher education, Cathy A. Sandeen (’76, Speech Pathology) has now been named president at California State University East Bay (CSUEB). Sandeen, currently the chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), will take the helm on January 4, 2021.

HSU Foundation Makes Major Local Investment

The Humboldt State University Foundation - the non-profit organization that accepts donations and manages the endowment for the University - has made a new investment in local real estate. It completed the purchase of nearly eight developable acres within one mile of campus that is known as Craftsman Mall.

California Teacher of the Year

Recognized for her leadership and innovation during a challenging educational climate, HSU School of Education instructor and HSU alumna Nora Wynne was named a 2021 California Teacher of the Year. This is the first time a Humboldt County educator has been recognized with the honor since 1996.

Enrollment in Graduate Programs Increases at HSU

Despite the uncertainty of higher education during the pandemic, Humboldt State experienced an 8% increase in the number of new graduate students from last year and the highest number since 2017.

Athletics Auction Raises $31,000

Some of the top items at the 35th Annual Humboldt State University Department of Athletics were the Yeti Tundra Haul Cooler, Two-Night Stay and Dinner for Two at Albion Inn, and a Tom Brady Signed Autograph Football.
