Renowned Stem Cell Research Program Secures $3.6 Million for Student Internships

Beloved North Coast Otters Head to Auction

To raise awareness about otters and support otter research, the North Coast Otters Public Art Initiative is hosting an in-person silent auction of 32 of the now-famous otter sculptures decorated by local artists on Saturday, Sept. 11, from noon to 3 p.m., followed by an online auction of the remaining 70+ otters the following week. Additionally, a public viewing of all 100+ otter sculptures will be held Friday, Sept. 10, from noon to 7 p.m.

Record Number of HSU Student-Athletes Named to All-Academic Team

Humboldt State University set an all-time record with 91 student-athletes being named to the 2020-21 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic Team. This mark eclipsed the Lumberjacks’ second-highest total by 7%, and outclassed their total from just five years ago by over 34%.

Kamome goes to the Olympics

NBC Sports aired a documentary about the boat Kamome, a small boat ripped from Japan in the March 2011 tsunami that beached in California’s northern Del Norte County two years later, as part of their Olympic Games coverage on NBC stations throughout the country.
